Name of Acupuncture point
Nao Shu (Upper Arm Shu), also known as the SI 10.

Associations
Crossing point of the Small Intestine and Urinary Bladder Meridians, and the Yang Wei and Yang Qiao Vessels

Explanation
Nao refers to the upper arm. Shu refers to the accumulating point for yang energy on the upper arm.

Location
On the shoulder, directly above the posterior end of the axillary fossa, in the depression inferior to the scapular spine.

Anatomy
• Muscle: After the deltoid muscle, the deeper layer which is the subcutaneous muscle.
• Nerves: Shallow branch of the branch of the supraclavicular nerve and the arm from the axillary nerve lateral branch of the nerve, axillary nerve. The deeper layer is the scapular nerve.
• Blood vessels: rotation after the brachial artery, vein, the deeper layer which is the scapular nerve, vein.

Needling method
• Puncture perpendicularly 0.5 to 1.5 inches, deep through the medial margin of the humeral neck, up the axillary nerve and brachial plexus; insert towards the top of the front for the scapula near the scapular nerve and scapula arteries, veins; insert outwardly (when the lateral humerus) in an oblique direction for the axillary nerve branch; insert to the bottom (in the humerus medial) in an oblique direction to be near to the radial nerve. Carry out Moxibustion using 3 to 7 inches of Moxa and carry out Moxa Moxibustion for 10 to 15 minutes.

Functions
• In the olden days: cold and heat, inability to stretch the shoulder and arm due to pain, aching and weakness of arm, Swelling of the shoulder with pain in the scapular
• Now: Upper limb paralysis, frozen shoulder, lymphoid tuberculosis

• Upper Limb Paralysis: Jian Yu (Shoulder Bone Meridian), Nao Shu (Small Intestine Meridian) and Qu Chi (Large Intestine Meridian)
• Lymphoid tuberculosis: Tai Chung, Fu Liu, Tian Jing, Tai Xi

穴名 臑俞
經絡 手太陽(小腸經)

【類別】
交會穴：手太陽、陽維、蹻脈之會。

【釋名】
臑，上臂。穴在其後，緊靠背部，故稱「俞」。

【位置】
肩部，腋後紋頭直上，肩胛岡下緣凹陷處。
• 《針灸甲乙經》：「在肩臑後大骨下，胛上廉陷者中」；
• 《千金要方》：「俠肩髃後大骨下」；
• 《針灸大成》：「俠肩臑後大骨下」；
• 《循經考穴編》：「肩貞下（當作上）一寸五分是」；
• 《醫宗金鑒》：「從肩貞上行肩端，臑上肩骨下」；
• 《素問直解》：「曲掖上骨，兩臑俞穴」。

【解剖】
• 肌肉：三角肌後份，深層為岡下肌。
• 神經：淺層為鎖骨上神經後支的分支及來自腋神經的臂外側皮神經的分支、腋神經。深層為肩胛上神經。
• 血管：旋肱後動、靜脈，深層為肩胛岡上動、靜脈。

【操作】
直刺或稍偏向前下方斜刺1～2寸，如深透肱骨頸的內側緣，可達腋神經及臂叢下部；如向前上方透刺，在肩胛切跡附近有肩胛上神經和肩胛上動、靜脈、如向外方（當肱骨外側）斜刺，有腋神經分支；如向下方（在肱骨內側）斜刺，則可達橈神經附近。艾炷灸3～7壯，艾條溫灸10～15分鐘。

【功效】
• 古典：寒熱、肩臂痛不可舉、臂酸無力，肩腫引胛中痛、脛痛。
• 現代：上肢癱瘓、漏肩風、乳腺炎。

【配穴】
• 上肢癱瘓：肩髃、臑俞、曲池。
• 乳房腫痛：膻中、臑俞。
